Jacobs Entertainment and the Reno Housing Authority (RHA) have reached an agreement that will result in the construction of a $20 million, 65-unit affordable housing development by Jacobs Entertainment. Once completed, the new property will be transferred to RHA in exchange for Jacobs Entertainment acquiring the 60-year-old Sarrazin Arms Apartments, formally appraised as being worth $2.15 million in December 2017.

Jacobs Entertainment hosted a ribbon cutting for the newly rebranded J Resort today, Friday, June 9. The event highlighted the completed renovations of the rebranded resort, including two new restaurants, expanded gaming space, and completed renovation of over 500 hotel rooms. The ribbon cutting included remarks from Jacobs Entertainment CEO Jeff Jacobs, Governor Joe Lombardo, and Mayor Hillary Schieve.

Officials of Jacobs Entertainment today introduced the 750-room J Resort development to the Northern Nevada market. J Resort is a $300 million redevelopment of the former Sands Regency. The property anchors the bustling Neon Line District area, a half-mile-long art and entertainment district featuring a collection of monumental sculptures, as well as festival grounds capable of hosting up to 6,000 patrons.

Jacobs Entertainment announced today that it has filed for construction permits with the City of Reno to develop The Glow Plaza Festival Grounds on West 4th Street in the Neon Line District area. According to Jonathan Boulware, Regional Vice President of Jacobs Entertainment, “these festival grounds will allow us to expand our vision of The Glow Plaza, creating a very special location for festivals and special events of up to 8,000 visitors.” Added Mr. Boulware, “The Glow Plaza Festival Grounds will host many free festivals and special events, hosted by Jacobs Entertainment as well as third-party promoters.”

Following the acquisition and $50 million renovation of the Gold Dust West Casino in the mid-2000s, Jacobs Entertainment, Inc. remains active in the renovation of multiple properties in downtown Reno to better improve the image and aesthetics of the city’s core. Jacobs maintains a commitment to Reno’s historic buildings and culture, as evident in its recent preservation of the Nystrom Guest House and the Borland-Clifford House.
