Truckee Meadows Housing Solutions Announces Low-Income Housing Initiative
Nonprofit to begin construction on 10-unit community serving seniors and young adults
RENO, Nev. (November 28, 2025)—After years of planning and preparation, Truckee Meadows Housing Solutions (TMHS) today announced that construction has begun on its 4th Street Project in Reno, a 10-unit housing community designed to serve both seniors and young adults with limited incomes.
TMHS, a nonprofit housing organization, is dedicated to increasing the availability of affordable housing in Northern Nevada and strengthening community ties through intentional, supportive property management. The organization partners with the Nevada Youth Empowerment Project (NYEP) to cultivate a sense of ownership, connection, and pride among residents.
The 4th Street Project is funded by the Jacobs Family Foundation for Children, the Joseph Foundation, the Affordable Housing Program (AHP) through FHLBank San Francisco, the Lifestyle Homes Foundation and the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. The Jacobs Family Foundation for Children is led by Hanna and Claire Jacobs, daughters of Jeffrey P. Jacobs, CEO and owner of J Resort and J Resort’s Reno Neon Line.
“The 4th Street Project represents years of persistence, partnership, and shared vision,” said Monica DuPea, executive director of Truckee Meadows Housing Solutions. “I want to thank the Reno Housing Authority, especially Executive Director Dr. Hilary Lopez, for their leadership and assistance in helping bring this dream to fruition. We are also deeply grateful to the Jacobs Family Foundation for Children for its early and ongoing support, and to Mayor Hillary Schieve and the City of Reno for donating the land that made this development possible.”
DuPea and her team bring extensive experience in affordable housing development and resident services. Over the past two years, DuPea has worked directly with relocation teams to assist seniors transitioning from unsafe motels into secure, stable housing. Her on-the-ground experience helped identify critical resource gaps the new initiative is designed to address.
Upon completion, DuPea will serve as the initial on-site property manager to ensure a smooth launch, positive resident experience, and effective operational systems aligned with TMHS and NYEP’s community-based values.
