Renovations to Gold ‘N Silver Inn will Rejuvenate Iconic Property
RENO, Nev. (May 16, 2025) — Today, Jacobs Entertainment announced plans to breathe new life into one of Reno’s most recognizable landmarks, the Gold ‘N Silver Inn. The iconic Gold ‘N Silver Inn is set to undergo significant renovations in order to refresh and update the property and ensure it remains a go-to place for locals and visitors.
“For nearly 70 years, the Gold ‘N Silver Inn has been a gathering place for our community and the property deserves some tender love and care to remain a go-to spot in town,” said Jeff Jacobs, CEO of Jacobs Entertainment. “We are committed to honoring the spirit of this historic property while making sure it continues to offer an amazing guest experience for future generations.”
The renovations will preserve the Gold n Silver’s unmistakable vintage charm while refreshing its interiors and enhancing the overall experience. The classic breakfast and lunch favorites that have made it a local institution will remain at the heart of the menu, joined by new offerings created to appeal to Reno’s downtown workforce and residents, students from the University of Nevada, Reno, and visitors exploring the many entertainment options available at J Resort’s Reno Neon Line including the gaming and dining at J Resort and a wide range of concerts at the new Festival Grounds and the Glow Plaza.
“The Gold ‘N Silver Inn has been a staple in downtown Reno for decades; once these updates are complete in December, we will maintain the great food and value traditionally offered for breakfast, brunch and lunch while repositioning the evening hours with a new bar and cool theme in keeping with the revitalization of Downtown Reno,” said John East, chief operating officer with Jacobs Entertainment. “Good food and drinks, loose bar-top poker, an interactive atmosphere and convenient in-and-out parking will make the Gold ‘N Silver a great place to come after work or just to hang out with friends late into the night.”
To complete the upgrades, the Gold ‘N Silver Inn will close temporarily at the end of the day on June 1, with plans to reopen just in time to celebrate New Year’s Eve — ushering in a new chapter while paying homage to the past. The renovation is being led by Erik Fong and his team at OneStudio D+A, known for their ability to blend preservation with modern design.
“We know this place means a lot to the Reno community. We’re excited to bring something fresh to this space, while retaining the core of Gold n Silver’s history and nostalgia,” said Erik Fong, partner and principal architect at OneStudio D+A. “Our approach is to embrace the classic elements from past eras and integrate them with iconic elements unique to Reno.”
The Gold ‘N Silver rejuvenation is part of Jacobs Entertainment’s broader investment in downtown Reno’s revitalization through the J Resort and J Resort’s Reno Neon Line. This extensive redevelopment effort includes new entertainment venues, public art installations, luxury accommodations, expanded gaming experiences, and the addition of residential and commercial spaces, all designed to reimagine West 4th Street as one of the West Coast’s premier live, work, and play corridors.
“J Resort’s Reno Neon Line continues to evolve into an exciting entertainment destination and the rejuvenation of the Gold ‘N Silver Inn is an important part of that effort,” added Jacobs. “By investing in both new projects and preserving local landmarks, we’re creating a downtown Reno that honors its past while embracing its future.”
