J Resort Announces $130 Million in New Developments including Outdoor Entertainment Agreement with JMF Presents

Festival grounds, sports car-themed banquet space among improvements planned for 2025

RENO, Nev. (November 20, 2024) — Jacobs Entertainment officials announced today new entertainment development efforts underway at J Resort, including a multi-year outdoor entertainment agreement with JMF Presents for 2025 and beyond.

Jacobs Entertainment and JMF Presents have entered into a 5-year agreement that turns J Resort’s outdoor entertainment activities over to JMF Presents. In addition to growing the J Resort’s Glow Plaza concert schedule, J Resort will open a new venue for festivals with audiences of up to 15,000 patrons. J Resort is dedicating over 10 acres between North Arlington Street and Ralston Street to create J Resort’s Festival Grounds, downtown Reno’s first and only dedicated outdoor festival space.

“We are excited to partner with Chris Sewell and JMF Presents as we continue to revitalize downtown Reno with our growing outdoor entertainment options,” said Jonathan Boulware, regional vice president of Jacobs Entertainment. “As producers of countless concerts and festivals on the West Coast, JMF Presents has a pulse on the entertainment scene of our audience; both those in the Reno market and as well as those in the wider northern Nevada and California markets. JMF Presents shares our desire to grow visitation to J Resort, Reno’s number one arts and entertainment resort.”

“With the creation of J Resort’s Festival Grounds combined with the opportunity to place acts in J Resort’s Glow Plaza, we anticipate growing our J Resort summer concert and festival schedule to over 40 events every summer, attracting 150,000 to 200,000 local and visiting music fans to downtown Reno,” said Chris Sewell, president of JMF Presents. “This year’s Sophie Tucker concert at the J Resort Festival Grounds helped us realize the potential the space holds, and we have since been busy booking acts for 2025.”

Dillon Francis is appearing on New Year’s Eve at J Resort’s Glow Plaza for an expected crowd of over 5,000 people,” Sewell said. “We will announce our 2025 summer concert and festival schedule for both locations after the holidays.”

Jacobs Entertainment is investing approximately $5 million into site improvements before the official 2025 grand opening of J Resort’s Festival Grounds. An additional $125 million of construction and predevelopment work is also underway at J Resort.

“We are excited to finalize plans for the J Resort north expansion,” Boulware said. “The improvements will include our new front entrance off West 4th Street, as well as a 20-foot-tall sculpture, which was recently commissioned in Italy from internationally acclaimed sculptor Richard Erdman.”

The J Resort north expansion will begin construction in January 2025 and will include accessible parking, additional gaming, and a new food and beverage creation. J Resort is also beginning construction on Rolling Art, a new 400-seat banquet hall combined with a unique pre-function area featuring over $50 million of European sports cars on display from the Jacobs’ Collection of European Sports Cars. The car display will include the only public display of all five of Ferrari’s “supercars.”

J Resort executives also shared new information about the planned west expansion, as well as an update regarding new housing options coming to J Resort’s Reno Neon Line. Predevelopment work for J Resort’s west expansion, which will feature an 800-seat banquet and meeting space, sp, and indoor/outdoor rooftop pool, has begun. During this phase, J Resorts will finalize expansion concepts and financing to bring additional amenities to the resort.

Finally, they announced that leasing begins on January 1, 2025 for J Resort’s Reno Neon Line newest residential community, 245 North Arlington. Move-in will be available on March 1, 2025; 245 North Arlington has 60 total units, including two-bedroom, one-bedroom and studio floor plans. More details on amenities and leasing options can be found at: https://245northarlington.com/.

“We have a lot going on in downtown Reno, both at J Resort, as well as the opening of 245 North Arlington Apartments, scheduled for March,” Boulware said. “Speaking on behalf of our 700-plus associates on West 4th Street, we are truly excited for what’s next. There is much more fun to come.”
